The Budget & Admissions Committee

The primary purpose of the United Fund is to provide financial support to non-profit organizations that serve our local communities.  Board members and community members gather and discuss the needs identified within the community and determine how to best invest your donations in funding creative solutions.

This committee reviews the annual requests for funding each Spring. Committee members review budget requests from local non-profits. Once the submitted documents are analyzed, members do a personal site visit and interview personnel involved in the program. The entire group then reconvenes to discuss findings and conducts group interviews with each applicant. Once this process is complete, the committee then provides funding and other recommendations to the Board of Directors for final approval. This information is used to determine the campaign goal for the coming year.

Throughout the year, the Budget and Admissions Committee continues to meet to review submitted grant applications. It is the goal of the Budget and Admissions Committee to make funding available as needed. "The Budget & Admissions (B&A) Committee is probably the most important committee within the United Fund.  However, many have never heard of it or understand its role in improving our community.  When an individual or organization makes a donation to the United Fund it is the B&A’s responsibility to ensure that those funds are put to good use.  The Committee is comprised of dedicated volunteers from diverse backgrounds whom are tasked with evaluating each and every request for funding that the United Fund receives.   B&A members are required to conduct in-depth analysis of all aspects of a funding request.  They visit with each requesting agency to evaluate need, fiscal responsibility and (most importantly), outcome.  The B&A then makes recommendations to the United Fund Board of Directors as to which requests are to receive support.   It is imperative that dollars invested provide some lasting benefit to our community.  Our mission is to support programs that break the cycle of poverty and enrich lives.  We must be good stewards of the funds that are entrusted to us.  It is a responsibility that we take very seriously."
